Marty Jessup is an Associate Adjunct Professor at the
Department of Family Health Care Nursing. Dr. Jessup has 28 years of
experience in drug abuse treatment and policy, with an emphasis on
women’s gender-responsive programming. Her program of research focuses
on health status, health services, and treatment access and has included
projects on barriers to treatment and health and social outcomes among
adult women and adolescent girls in drug treatment and criminal justice
systems. Dr. Jessup’s current research is focused on tobacco related
clinical practices and policies in perinatal drug treatment.
Dr. Jessup also provides consultation on health issues,
treatment, and policy to the Department of Alcohol & Drug Programs,
State of California and to other agencies and county health and human
service agencies in California. Dr. Jessup is a Member of the Women’s
Health Council, Office of Women’s Health, California Department of
Health Services, where she provides recommendations to the Department on
women’s health. Dr. Jessup is also a Clinical Nurse Specialist in
Maternity.

State Medical Director on Substance Abuse

Description: The purpose of this project is to collaborate with
the State Medical Director on Substance Abuse Services in providing the
California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs with clinical
consultation and direction regarding public health quality assurance in
the treatment of substance abuse disorders, as well as other aspects of
the alcohol and other drug continuum of care, primary medical care, and
infection control.

San Mateo County Juvenile Drug Court Evaluation

Description:
The major goals of the evaluation are to assess the quality, design
and implementation of the JDC for high risk multi-recidivist female
adolescent offenders.The evaluation will address the effectiveness of
program activities and how they support the achievement of the desired
