Dr. Kang is Assistant Researcher at the Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences.  Dr. Kang provided statistical analysis and data management for the Center for Personal Assistance Services, which conducts national statistical studies on disability and personal assistance needs, and the Disability Statistics Rehabilitation Research and Training Center at the Institute for Health and Aging, University of California.  

Recently, Dr. Kang worked on studies of service utilization and expenditures for individuals with developmental disabilities, and research comparing California’s personal care option program (In-Home Supportive Services, or IHSS) and a Medicaid waiver known as IHSS Plus.

Description: Studies of the need for and use of informal and formal personal assistance services, including scaling of ADLs, prevalence, hours, and unmet needs.

 

Title: California Nursing Home Search

Description: The study investigates California nursing home quality using nine federal and state data bases and updates a California website for all nursing homes

Description: Studies of the demography and epidemiology of disability, cost of disability, employment, health services, AIDS-related disability, assistive technology, rehabilitation services and long term care services.  The Center also conducts national forums, publishes reports and abstracts, and operates an information service.
