Recruiting: Faculty Position

Position Description:
Pediatric Faculty; Clinical Series: Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor
(51% 12-month position; eligible for benefits. Appointment level based on qualifications)

Education - Minimum Criteria:
Master's degree in nursing.
Substantive content expertise in the area of pediatric nursing.
Current nursing registration in the State of California.

Experience - Minimum Criteria:
1)  Two or more years of clinical experience in the nursing care of children with health problems.
2)  Experience in classroom teaching and organizing course(s) in pediatric health care.

Experience - Ideal Criteria:
1)  Two or more years of clinical experience in a pediatric acute care area with progressive leadership and management responsibility.
2)  Two or more years of clinical and classroom teaching at the undergraduate level with responsibility for course design and participation in curricular decisions.
3)  Expert in clinical and didactic teaching.

Areas of Responsibility:
1)  Supervises, teaches, and evaluates students in classroom, skills lab, clinical agencies and community settings.
2)  Participates actively in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum.
3)  Participates in coordination of inpatient clinical placement and recruitment/selection and supervision of clinical instructors/preceptors)  
4)  Provides academic advisement for assigned students.
5)  Coordinates and evaluates community clinical resources used by students.
6)  Supports the Assistant Dean/Program Director in community relations and in the development of reports, program evaluation, and other evaluation activities.
7)  Attends all program faculty meetings.
8)  Engages in clinical scholarship.
9)  Participates in nursing organizations and professional groups at local, state, regional, and national levels.
10)  Participates in community and university service activities.
11)  Participates in program recruitment activities.
12)  Participates in activities of the Department of Family Health Care Nursing and UCSF School of Nursing.

Lines of Responsibility:
Dually responsible to the Chair, Department of Family Health Care Nursing and to
the Assistant Dean & Program Director of the Masters Entry Program.
