About the School - Visitor Information

The main campus of the University of California, San Francisco, is located in the "Inner Sunset District" neighborhood of the city of San Francisco.

Since 1898, UC has been teaching and training health scientists and professional clinicians and providing health care to the public at this site on Parnassus Avenue overlooking Golden Gate Park.

Best access by public transportation to the and UCSF Medical Center and Campus on Parnassus Avenue is the #6 Muni bus line or the "N·Judah" Metro (streetcar) line on Irving Street, one block north of Parnassus Ave.

From Parnassus Avenue, the School of Nursing Building can be reached using the Clinical Sciences Building entrance door (at 521 Parnassus Avenue) and then taking an elevator up. Interconnecting hallways link the second through seventh floors of the Clinical Sciences Building and the Nursing Building.

Or, Koret Way (the western extension of Kirkham Avenue) ends at the back entrance on the fifth floor of the School of Nursing Building.

The Institute for Health & Aging and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences are located in UCSF's Laurel Heights building complex, located a few miles north of the main Parnassus campus. Laurel Heights is located at the intersection of California and Walnut Streets, near the Presidio of San Francisco.
