Research/Clinical/Teaching/Current Projects

My research interest concerns the use of exercise as an intervention in the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease. As an example, my dissertation examined the effect of a 6-kg weightload during a 12 week walking program designed for middle-aged, pre-menopausal women. Dependent variables included lipids, body composition, and exercise testing measures.

I am interested in clinical research and have collected data for clinical trials on depression after MI, and a program for smoking cessation for women with heart disease. I have also done some work with exercise in senior citizens. I work part-time in a cardiac rehab facility and completed a study using Therabands© to increase strength and functional ability.
