Research

My research concentrates on health care organization and policy. While in the UK, this involved studies of organization change in social work agencies, hospitals and mental health units. In the US, I have conducted studies of academic healthcare centers and modes of professional work control and am currently researching institutional and organizational change in the long-term care industry.

Current Projects

A National Study of Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) funded by the Kaiser Family Foundation, Co-PI with Charlene Harrington.

Director of Home and Community-Based Service Research in the UCSF National Center for Personal Assistance; a five-year research program funded by the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDDR).
