My research interests include health disparities in the US and internationally (currently with a specific focus on asthma and asthma care), minority health, health care outcomes, patient-focused health decision-making, patient-provider relationships, and access to health care for minority and marginalized populations. Related areas of interest include: nursing education, nursing workforce issues and health care policy.
For my dissertation research, I am investigating aspects of the patient-provider relationship and communication in a population of African Americans with asthma.
My teaching has been focused on the professional development of students into the profession of nursing. Course topics: Ethics, Leadership, Theory in Advanced Practice, Socio-Cultural Issues in Health and Illness, Pulmonary Advanced Practice Nursing.
