The following three lists were compiled in 1996 (an update is pending) to assist doctoral students in understanding the major areas of qualitative research at UCSF, and identify faculty members who are conducting qualitative research:

We wish to acknowledge the enormous and original contributions of Dr. Anselm Strauss, contributions that continued until his death on September 5, 1996. This document is a tribute to his vision and the lively community of scholars that carry on his work.
